isaac's Storm
It is the year 1900. You live on Galveston Island. All day long you have heard rumors about a big storm that is going to hit the island. You don't believe these rumors, because the weather is normal. So, you go about your day minding your own business. Dark, gray clouds roll in. The wind begins to blow harder and the water is way past high tide. You think, Are the rumors true? Will there be a storm? Will it be a bad storm?
The Galveston Hurricane of 1900, otherwise known as Isaac's Storm, was one of the biggest natural disasters in American history. Killing thousands of people and destroying Galveston's economy gave a devastating effect on the island. The hurricane ranked as a category 4 storm with winds reaching up to 150 miles per hour. The storm brought tragedy to the once perfect city by the beach.
